Job Opportunity: Managing Director at National Transmission & Despatch Company Limited (NTDC)
Company Overview :
The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC), soon to be renamed the National Grid Company (NGC), is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of the high-voltage power transmission system across Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. With over 10,000 employees, NTDC plays a crucial role in managing the bulk power transmission network in the country, operating under a Transmission License granted by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
In alignment with the Government of Pakistan’s efforts to reform the power sector, NTDC seeks to transform into a dynamic, efficient corporate entity capable of meeting current and emerging challenges. The focus is on improving system reliability, expanding the transmission network, and enhancing both operational and functional frameworks.

Position: Managing Director (MD)
Key Responsibilities :
The Managing Director (MD) will be responsible for guiding NTDC’s strategic direction, engaging with stakeholders, and coordinating with the Board of Directors to manage Transmission Service Provision. Specific duties include:
- Developing strategic business plans and optimizing organizational structures.
- Implementing productivity enhancements, process improvements, and effective project management.
- Establishing performance-based and competitive compensation management systems.
- Overseeing supply chain management and service operation efficiencies.
- Managing regulatory compliance, in line with statutory requirements and policies.
- Developing and executing initiatives to manage transmission assets, ensuring adherence to reliability standards.
- Liaising with governmental and private entities to promote sector optimization.
- Ensuring compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Terms of Reference (ToRs), and ethical targets.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering; additional credit for candidates with a Master’s or Ph.D.
- Experience: Minimum 20 years of post-qualification professional experience, with at least 3 years in senior management or a similar leadership role such as CEO/Managing Director. Experience at Grade 20 or above in public sector power transmission or consulting will also be considered.
- Additional Criteria: Candidates must fulfill the “Fit and Proper Criteria” as per NTDC guidelines available on the NTDC website.
Contract Terms and Remuneration :
- Initial contract duration: 3 years, extendable by mutual agreement.
- Competitive market-based remuneration package, negotiable based on qualifications, experience, and skills.
- Government employees selected for this role will need to resign or take early retirement before joining.
